XC Runs at Wesleyan Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday at the Wes Furman Trails.

The Mitchell men's squad placed fifth out of sixth teams while the women finished sixth out of six teams. Bowdoin College took first place in both races while Wesleyan finished as runner-up in each.

Senior John Hoffman paced the Mariners on the men's side, completing the 8K course in a time of 28:31.38 to place 15th overall. The race marked the first time this season that Mitchell competed in an 8,000-meter event. In the women's 5K race, senior Brittany Smyth posted Mitchell's top time at 24:38.80 and finished 42nd overall.
