XC Opens Season at Trinity Invitational
MANCHESTER, Conn. - The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2015 season at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday morning at Wickham Park.
The Trinity men and the Connecticut College women each placed first in their respective races. Mitchell placed eighth on the men's side and ninth on the women's.
Sophomore Nick Lebron was the first Mitchell runner across the finish line for the men, completing the course in a time of 23:12. Junior Axel De Jesus was close behind and posted a time of 23:32 in his first collegiate race, while Jeffrey Rodman (25:53), Evan Kristal (26:40), Craig Fortin (27:03) and Spencer Farrah (32:08) rounded out the pack.
In the women's race, freshman Caelin Hetherman paced the Mariners and finished 89th overall in a time of 25:06. Kate McCormack also posted a strong time of 26:51 while Ashleigh Beauford (28:45), Francesca Pinard (29:12) and Julia Shaughnessy (29:27) rounded out the group.
Mitchell will next compete at the Wesleyan Invitational on Friday, September 18 at 5 p.m.
