Men’s Cross Country Races in Founding Tree Invitational
AMHERST, Mass. – After hosting the Mitchell Invitational on Friday evening, the Mitchell College men's cross country team raced right back into action on Saturday, competing in the Founding Tree Invitational, hosted by Hampshire College.
Sophomore Jonathan Hecker (Falls Church, VA) paced the Mariners in the 8k race and was the 71st runner to cross the finish line with a time of 35:57.61. Freshman Stefan Mier (Providence, R.I.) was the next Mitchell runner to complete the race, posting a time of 38:23.80, while junior Tim O'Hayre (Hull, Mass.) was two seconds behind Mier at 38:25.40. Freshman Thomas Daly (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Dennis Kuruchu (Charlotte, N.C.) rounded out the pack for the Mariners with times of 46:58.20 and 47:02 respectively.
As a team, Mitchell finished in 12th place out of 12 teams, while Norwich University took home the top honors. Eli Lemire of NHTI was the top individual finisher with a time of 26:58.60.
The Mariners will next compete in the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday, October 19.
