Cross Country Opens Season at Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Mitchell College men's and women's cross
country teams opened the 2009 season at the Roger Williams
University Invitational on Saturday.
The men's team finished eighth out of eight teams and posted a team
total of 208 points. The women's squad posted only individual
results. UMass Dartmouth (40 points) took home the team title
on the men's side while Roger Williams (34 points) won the women's
event.
Pacing the Mariners on the men's side was junior John Hoffman, who
ran the 5k race in 17:47.89 and finished 24th overall.
Classmate Brittany Smyth had the best performance on the women's
team, placing 64th overall with a time of 25:18.99.
Mitchell will next race at the Daniel Webster College Eagle Invite
on Friday, September 18 at 4:30 p.m.
