Cross Country Runs at Elms
CHICOPEE, Mass. -- The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Blazer Cross Country Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Chicopee Memorial State Park.
The men's team finished ninth out of 12 teams and was led by sophomore Spencer Daniel, who covered the 8-kilometer course in a time of 32:28. On the women's side, the Mariners did not record a team scored but had four individuals complete the 5-kilometer race, led by sophomore Sheilah Newcity at 23:20.
The University of New England won both the men's and women's races. Westfield State's Tim Shea won the men's race with a time of 27:20 while UNE's Brittney Sorbello came in at 19:57 to win the women's race.
Mitchell returns to action at the Tri-State Invitational on October 5 at 10 a.m.
