
Cross Country Races in UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational
DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams returned to action on Saturday, competing in the multi-divisional 51st Annual UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational at the Robert Dowd Course.
Competing in the men's sub-varsity 8k event, sophomore Jonathan Hecker (Falls Church, VA) finished with a team-high time of 35:06.87. Three spots behind Hecker was freshman Stefan Mier (Providnece, R.I.), who crossed the fininsh line in 35:45.19. Freshman Adrian Alicea (Miami, Fla.) was the next runner to finish for Mitchell, posting a time of 41:48.00, while freshman Collin Jefferson (Port St. Lucie, Fla) and Luke Pavia (Bolton, Mass.) rounded out the finishers for the Mitchell men, scoring times of 48:25.64 and 48:40.03 respectively.
Jan Wouter Van Den Akker from UMass Lowell was the top individual finisher with a time of 25:04.48, while UMass Lowell also took the top team spot.
On the women's side, freshman Jordyn Streitmatter (Brewster, Mass.) completed the 5k race in 27:38.69 to pace the Mariners, while junior Kyrsten Lucas (Manchester, Md.) was the next Mitchell runner to finish with a time of 33:29.23. Right behind Lucas was sophomore Inonda Peterson (Houston, TX) at 33:56.37, while Morgyn Perkins (Bristol Conn.) and Anna Kate Kochansky (Bronxville, N.Y.) rounded out the Mariners pack with times of 37:44.01 and 53:15.39 respectively.
Mary-Kate Finn of UMass Lowell was the top individual finisher in the race with a time of 17:25.78, while Northeastern University took home the top team score.
The Mariners return to action on Friday, September 27, when they host the Mitchell College Invitational at Stenger Farm Park in Waterford, Connecticut.
