Volleyball Ends Season with Win at Becker
LEICESTER, Mass. - The Hawks of Becker College dropped their season finale at home to the Mariners of Mitchell College, 3-1, on Friday in NECC conference action, with game scores of 19-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-13.
After the Hawks took game one, the Mariners jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the second set. The Hawks would rally behind the serving of Jacqueline Chila, getting them back into the game, but Mitchell would pull away, winning 25-14. Game three would go little better for the Hawks, as Mitchell won 25-17. Game four's 25-13 result would see the end of the Hawks season.
Freshman Jaclyn Tempkins led Mitchell with 10 kills and two block assists. Sophomore Nicole Terni filled the stat line with three kills, 18 assists, 10 service aces and seven digs. Sophomore Gloria Charles added five kills and four digs.
Chila led the Hawks with five kills, five service aces, 2.5 blocks and three digs. Danielle Robbie tallied four kills, one service ace and six digs. Nicole Morse also had three kills.
The Hawks wrapped up their season with a 3-22 record with a 0-8 mark in the NECC. The Mariners of finished with an overall record of 7-11 and 2-6 in conference play.
