WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Mitchell College women's volleyball team opened the 2013 season with two matches on Saturday, falling 3-0 to both the University of Saint Joseph and Mount Holyoke College.
In the day's first match, the Mariners fell by set scores of 25-22, 25-14 and 25-19 to the host Blue Jays. Sophomore Amanda Garcia led the Mitchell offense with six kills while classmate Kaisea Caramante posted a match-high 10 digs.
Mount Holyoke took the second match by scores of 25-14, 25-11 and 25-21. Senior Gloria Charles posted a team-high six kills while sophomore Nicole Caminiti handed out 13 assists and recorded a pair of service aces.
Mitchell (0-2 overall) returns to action at Albertus Magnus College on Tuesday, September 10 at 7 p.m.
