Volleyball Drops Home Debut in Four Sets vs. AMC
NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's volleyball team dropped its home opener to Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday night by a 3-1 final at the Yarnall Athletic Center.
The Mariners came out strong early and captured the first set by a score of 25-21. However, the Falcons rallied back to win the next three sets by finals of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-23. Albertus Magnus trailed 22-16 in the fourth set before seizing nine of the final 10 points to claim the match.
Vanessa Isyk posted a match-high 14 kills to lead the Falcons and also added 12 digs. Jaiden Williams handed out 27 assists to lead the AMC offense. Jesselle Guzman supplied three of her match-high eight service aces during the comeback at the end of the fourth set.
Ariana Carter and Laurissa Amaker led the Mariners with 12 kills apiece. Carter also added 15 digs and a pair of blocks on the night. Cameron Childs finished with a match-high 31 assists to go with 13 digs.
Mitchell (0-3 overall) returns to action at Salem State University on Thursday, September 13 at 7 p.m.
