Volleyball Has Three Honored by NECC
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Three members of the Mitchell College women's volleyball team were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Amanda Rowan was selected to the NECC All-Conference Second Team while sophomore Colby Zitoli earned a spot on the NECC All-Conference Third Team. Rounding out the honorees was junior Italia Krick, who was named to the NECC All-Sportsmanship Team. All awards were determined by a vote of the conference's head coaches.
Rowan, a middle blocker and outside hitter, earned all-conference honors for the second time in her career (third team in 2015). She posted a team- and career-high 144 kills in her final season, starting all 21 games and playing in all 75 sets. In eight league contests she ranked ninth in the NECC with 72 kills. The four-year letterwinner finished her career with 439 kills and 62 blocks in 80 matches.
Zitoli garnered all-conference status for the first time in her career. The Mitchell libero played in all 21 games and led the team with 345 digs over 75 sets. In league action she ranked third in the NECC in both total digs (130) and digs per set (4.33).
Krick enjoyed the most productive season of her career, finishing with 77 kills and 143 digs in 75 sets. She appeared in all 21 matches and made 19 starts, and in league action she led the team with 17 service aces and ranked seventh in the NECC in the category.
Mitchell finished the season with an overall record of 4-17 (1-7 NECC).
