MBB's Williams Tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week
MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Leonard Williams was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.
Williams averaged 11.5 points per game and shot 63.6 percent from the floor last week for the Mariners, who secured the fourth seed in the upcoming NECC Championship. He finished with eight points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals in Mitchell's first road win at Southern Vermont College since 2013. He then netted a season-high 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting against Dean College, while adding four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Williams has played in all 25 games this season as a reserve. He is averaging 4.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in his rookie campaign.
Mitchell (16-9 overall) is the fourth seed in the 2019 NECC Championship and will host fifth-seeded Southern Vermont College in the first round on Tuesday, February 19 at 8 p.m.
