Men's Basketball Falls to Brooklyn
Box Score
CHICOPEE, Mass. - Brooklyn College senior guard Daniel Nisbett led
all scorers with 19 points as the Bridges took care of Mitchell
College in the second game of the opening night of the Blazer
Tip-off Tournament Saturday night at Picknelly Arena.
With the win, Brooklyn opens its season 1-0, while Mitchell
falls to 0-2 with the loss.
The game got out of hand quickly for the Mariners as Brooklyn used
an 11-0 run, not three minutes into the game, to propel them to an
early 12-point advantage. Mitchell freshman Shadayne Philbert
ended the run with a three, just before the Bridges exploded on a
14-0 run to put the Mariners in a 23-point hole. The Bridges took a
61-30 lead into the locker room at the half.
It was much of the same during the second half, as the lead would
go up by as many as 46 and was only as close as 28. Senior Eric Murray led the
Mariners in scoring with 15 points while junior Jenel Russell added
12.
Helping Nisbett was senior Thomas Guerin's 15 points, while
classmates Darnell Cudjoe and Ahmad Hemingway netted 10 apiece.
