NASHUA, N.H. - The Daniel Webster College men's basketball team saw
five players hit for double figures in scoring, posting a 69-61
victory over Mitchell College in a NECC matchup Thursday night at
Mario Vagge Gymnasium.
Chris Hanson led the Eagles with a game high 19 points
and nailed five three-pointers, Adam Landry notched 16 points
and eight rebounds, and Eric Suarez added a double-double with
11 points and a game-best 13 boards. Chris Voukides and Keith Speed
added 10 points each for DWC.
Sophomore Julio
Contreras led the Mariners (4-18, 3-10 NECC) with 18 points,
while junior Drew
Norris notched 13 and classmate Tyler Blier pulled in a
team-high nine rebounds.
The Eagles shot 50 percent in the first half to lead 35-24 at the
break. Daniel Webster held a 12-point lead early in the second
stanza before Mitchell would close the gap to four at 56-52 on a Mike DePaolo
jumper with 7:11 left.
A Hanson three and Speed layup upped the lead back to nine before
Mitchell again rallied with a late 7-2 run, whittling the lead back
to four at 65-61 with 1:09 left. But Landry followed with an inside
spin move and, after a DePaolo miss, the Eagles would close it out
at the line, preserving the win.
Mitchell closes out its regular season on Saturday,
February 20 against Southern Vermont College. Tip-off is
scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
