
MBB Falls at Albertus Magnus
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's basketball team dropped a non-conference showdown at Albertus Magnus College on Sunday afternoon by a 106-83 final at "The Nest" inside the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletics Center.
Domenico Santiago posted game highs of 31 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Mariners. He shot 14-for-19 from the floor, and the 20 boards tied a career high. Steffen Brunson also finished in double figures with 14 points.
Albertus controlled the opening five minutes of play and built an early 20-8 lead behind eight points from Jahmerikah Green-Younger. Over the next three minutes, Mitchell put together a 13-6 run to cut the Falcons' lead to within four, 26-21.
The Falcons answered back with a 13-6 run, including 11 points from Davon Warner, to go up 12 at 39-27 with 7:33 remaining. Mitchell battled back to within 10 (50-40) following a three from Leonard Williams, but Albertus ultimately took a 64-48 advantage into the locker room at the break.
In the second half, Albertus maintained its double-digit lead for the remainder of regulation to secure the home win. The closest Mitchell got was at the 11:05 mark as Santiago made a layup that cut the host's lead to 14 at 83-69.
Green-Younger led the Falcons with 20 points while Warner added 14. Jahrell Spence and Ryan Pittman also finished in double digits with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Mitchell (1-2 overall) will next host Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday, December 1 at 1 p.m.
