QUINCY, Mass. – The Mitchell College men's basketball team lost to Lancaster Bible College by an 85-61 final on Saturday afternoon in the consolation game of the ENC Classic.
Senior Tyler Blier scored a season-high 15 points to lead three Mariners in double figures. Freshman Tim Quinn and junior Paul Jefferson each added 10 points as Mitchell dropped to 1-7 overall on the season.
Lancaster Bible opened the contest with a 10-2 run and never trailed. Kody Koser led all scorers with 20 points and added seven rebounds as the Chargers (2-4 overall) picked up their second win of the season.
After falling behind by double digits midway through the first half, the Mariners cut a 15-point deficit down to six with just over seven minutes remaining in the stanza. Lancaster Bible then outscored Mitchell 13-7 over the final seven minutes to double its lead to 38-26 at the break.
The Chargers started the second half with a 14-2 run to go up by 24 points with 14:50 to go. Lancaster Bible shot a blistering 54 percent from the field for the game and connected on 7-of-14 attempts from long range.
Mitchell will open conference play at Daniel Webster College on Tuesday, December 7 at 7 p.m.
