Balanced Scoring Leads Nichols Past Mitchell, 18-0
DUDLEY, Mass. - A balanced scoring attack led the Nichols
College men's lacrosse team to an 18-0 non-conference victory over
visiting Mitchell Monday evening at Vendetti Field. The Bison
received multiple-goal games from six players, led by a three goals
each from Brian Gattie (Plainfield, N.H.) and
Garrett Hill (Braintree, Mass.), to improve to 4-7
on the season. The Mariners fall to 0-9.
Gattie added three assists to lead Nichols with six points, while
Hill totaled five points on the night with the addition of two
assists. Ryan Pacific (Danbury, Conn.) also picked
up five points with a pair of goals and three assists.
Tyler Kennedy (Cohasset, Mass.) chipped in with
four points on two goals and two assists, and Pete Cramer
(Hanover, Mass.) and Bradley O'Brien (Danbury,
Conn.) notched two tallies each. Tim Ahern (Boca
Raton, Fla.) had two assists.
Nichols scored 11 goals in the opening quarter and held a 17-0 lead
at halftime before Matt Partridge (Stow, Mass.)
added a fourth-quarter tally.
Nichols first-year netmidner Shahar Shatzberger (Peabody,
Mass.) earned the win in his first career start with one
save in the first 30 minutes before giving way to classmate
Matt Cecil (Odenton, Md.). Mitchell freshman
netminder Gregory Jameson (Newington, Conn.) made
nine saves in the loss.
Led by 14 of 20 wins by Jeff Powers (Easton,
Mass.), the Bison won 15 of 21 faceoffs. John
Kearney (Wellesley, Mass.) won four of eight faceoffs for
the Mariners.
The Bison held a 61-20 advantage in groundballs, and a 42-4 lead in
shots.
Mitchell will close out their season on Saturday, April
25th when they host Becker College at 2:00 pm for Senior
Day.
