Sullivan, LeMay Earn NECC Weekly Honors
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – A pair of Mitchell College men's lacrosse players were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday.
Senior Shane Sullivan was named NECC Player of the Week for the second time in his career while freshman JD LeMay was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season. The duo led Mitchell to a 1-1 record last week with a victory over Rivier University and a loss to Nichols College.
Sullivan led the Mariners with eight points on five goals and three assists. He scored a season-high four goals and added an assist in Mitchell's 12-7 win at Rivier, extending the team's winning streak to four games. He also had a goal and two assists on Senior Day in the loss to Nichols.
LeMay played every minute in goal last week and recorded a total of 23 saves over the two games. The rookie goalie finished with eight saves in the win at Rivier and made 15 stops in the loss to Nichols. He also recorded his first career assist against the Bison to break into the scoring column.
Sullivan has played in eight games and made five starts this season and currently ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 15 goals and nine assists for 24 points. LeMay has started all 13 games and sports a goals-against average of 7.92. His 169 saves are the most in the NECC and he also ranks second in save percentage (.621).
Mitchell (8-5 overall, 3-0 NECC) will next host the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday, April 22 at 4 p.m.
