Three From MLAX Receive NECC Honors
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Three members of the Mitchell College men's lacrosse team were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday as the league announced its annual awards.
Sophomore Kyle Marsh was named to the NECC All-Conference First Team as a midfielder while junior Michael Frosina was selected to the NECC All-Sportsmanship Team. Head coach Rich Petillo was also honored as the NECC Coach of the Year.
Marsh recorded nine goals and three assists while scooping up a team-high 29 ground balls in four league games. For the season he played in all 12 games and made three starts, finishing second on the team in scoring with 15 goals and eight assists for 23 points. His 60 ground balls were also the most on the team.
Frosina, a midfielder, played in all 12 games and made nine starts in his first season with the Mariners. He finished the year with three goals and six ground balls.
Petillo becomes just the second Mitchell men's lacrosse coach to earn the NECC's top honor (John Keysor, 2014). In his second season with the program, he led the Mariners to their third consecutive NECC Championship berth. Mitchell lost to eventual champion Regis College in the semifinals and finished the year with an overall record of 2-10 (1-3 NECC).
