Men's LAX Sweeps NECC Weekly Honors
MANSFIELD, Mass. -- Three members of the Mitchell College men's lacrosse team were recognized by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday morning.
Senior Jade Shields was named NECC Offensive Player of the Week while classmate Marcel Quinlan was tabbed NECC Defensive Player of the Week. Rounding out the honors was freshman Dominick Reposa, who was selected as NECC Rookie of the Week. All three earned the distinction for the first time in their careers.
Shields, an attackman, netted a game-high five goals and added an assist as Mitchell picked up its first win of the season last week. His final goal, which came with 2:15 left in the contest, ended up being the difference in a 13-12 victory over Anna Maria College.
Quinlan had just as much of an impact in the win, posting a season-high 21 saves in goal. His final stop came with less than a minute remaining to secure the win.
Reposa, a midfielder, recorded the first multi-goal game of his career against the AMCATS. He finished with two goals and an assist in the win and also scooped up seven ground balls.
Mitchell (1-2 overall) will next host Albertus Magnus College on Thursday, March 25 at 4 p.m.
