Men's LAX Sweeps NECC Weekly Honors
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Three members of the Mitchell College men's lacrosse team were recognized by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday as the league announced its weekly awards.
Seniors Jade Shields and Marcel Quinlan were named NECC Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, while freshman Joe Schley was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week. The trio helped the Mariners to a 1-1 record last week, including a last-minute victory at Salem State University.
Shields nabbed honors for the second time this season. He recorded a team-high 11 points on nine goals and two assists last week. He finished with four goals and two assists at Salem State, potting the game-winning goal with 35 seconds remaining in the contest. Earlier in the week he netted a season-high five goals in an 11-9 setback at Johnson & Wales. He also scooped up three ground balls on the week.
