Lent Tabbed as GNAC Libero of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Mitchell College sophomore Julia Lent (Miller Place, N.Y.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Libero of the Week for the sport of women's volleyball, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
The second-year player recorded double-digit digs in both games for the Mariners, who posted a perfect 2-0 record on the week in GNAC play. Lent began the week by tallying 12 digs and adding five assists in a five set victory over Albertus Magnus College. She then returned to play on Friday, racking up 37 digs in just three sets during a victory over Norwich University. The 37 digs were not just a career-high in a match for Lent, but also tied her for second place in the Division III era of the program, and set the record for most digs in a three set match, surpassing Jennifer Bordonaro, who racked up 32 digs across three sets in October of 2008. For the week, she had a 6.13 digs per set average.
Lent has now recorded double-digit digs in each of the Mariner's 10 matches on the season. She is averaging 4.21 digs per set, good for third most in the conference, and her 177 total digs is also third best in the GNAC.
The Mariners (4-6, 2-2 GNAC) will return to action on Wednesday, September 27th, when they host Elms College in a conference showdown at the Yarnall Athletic Center at 7:00 pm.
