Mariners Fall in OT to Daniel Webster
Nashua, N.H. - William Kemp Harris's (Suitland, Md.) layup after
grabbing the offensive rebound of teammate Tim Jackson's (W.
Henrietta, N.Y.) miss with 1.5 seconds remaining, propelled the
Daniel Webster College men's basketball team past Mitchell College,
74-72 in an overtime NECC battle at Mario Vagge Gymnasium Thursday
night.
Harris sparkled with a team best 20 points and a game and career
high 17 rebounds including eight on the offensive glass. His game
winner helped overcome a five-point overtime deficit as the Eagles
(11-6, 5-2 NECC) halted a two-game skid and solidified their hold
on third place in the league standings, a half game behind
second-place Becker College.
Chris Hanson (Salem, Mass.) added 15 points for the Eagles, while
Brian Inge (Ft. Washington, Mad.) added 12 and Adam Landry (Vernon,
Conn.) notched 10.
Eric Murray (Bridgeport, Conn.) was outstanding throughout,
finishing with a game high 32 points including 20 in the second
half. The junior forward would also add nine boards, five
assists, four steals and two blocks in the loss. Jenel Russell
(East Hampton, N.Y.) added 19 points, eight rebounds and four
assists.
Mitchell had originally forced overtime when Murray knocked down a
three-pointer with 34 seconds remaining, 13 seconds after Inge had
put the Eagles up 63-60 with a three of his own.
The Eagles return to action Saturday visiting Wheelock College at
12:00 p.m. Mitchell hosts 13th-ranked Elms Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
