Cook, Brodaski Earn NECC Honors
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Two members of the Mitchell College men's lacrosse team were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday morning.
Senior Jordan Cook was named NECC Player of the Week while freshman McCarthy Brodaski was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week. The duo helped the Mariners to a 1-1 week that included a come-from-behind victory in league play against Becker College.
Cook was a jack of all trades for the Mariners last week. He provided the offensive spark in the win over Becker as Mitchell overcame a five-goal, first-half deficit. He scored a career-high five goals in the contest, including three in the second quarter, as the Mariners stormed back to remain unbeaten in league play. Earlier in the week he made his first career start in goal and finished with eight saves in non-conference action against Albertus Magnus College.
Brodaski recorded a team-high seven points for the Mariners last week over the two games. He contributed a goal and four assists in the win over Becker, including an assist on the go-ahead goal in the fourth quarter. He later added a score with 2:35 to go to cap a 7-0 Mitchell run. Earlier in the week he contributed a pair of helpers in non-league play against Albertus Magnus.
Mitchell (4-4 overall, 2-0 NECC) will next host Coast Guard on Wednesday, April 8 at 4 p.m.
