LAX's Desances Named NECC Rookie of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Tyler Desances was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's lacrosse, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Desances scored a pair of goals against Becker College in the finals of the NECC Championship last week. He also finished with an assist in the semifinals in a win over Daniel Webster College and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Desances becomes the fourth Mitchell rookie to earn the distinction this season, joining teammates McCarthy Brodaski, Chevy Perry and Evan Gennell. He played in all 16 games and made 15 starts and ranked fifth on the team in scoring with 12 goals and eight assists for 20 points.
Mitchell (7-9 overall) went undefeated in NECC play for the third straight season. The Mariners were the top seed in the NECC Championship but lost to Becker by a 12-8 final in the title game.
