HENNIKER, N.H. – Mitchell College dropped an 18-4 decision to New England College on Sunday night in the 2022 NECC Women's Lacrosse Championship at Don Melander Field.
The Pilgrims never trailed and scored the game's first 12 goals. Alexandria Safford posted a game-high five goals to ead the Pilgrims, who evened their record at 8-8 overall.
Abby Rasmussen paced Mitchell with two goals, while Jessica Krupnikoff and Daniella Holland each added a score. Goalie Hannah Gomes made 11 saves in the cage.
Rasmussen's first goal put Mitchell on the scoreboard in the final minute of the first half. The Mariners trailed 12-1 at the break, but back-to-back tallies by Krupnikoff and Holland cut the deficit to 10 early in the second half. The Pilgrims then scored five straight goals to take their largest lead of the game at 15-5. Rasmussen's second goal came with under 20 seconds to play in regulation.
Mitchell (1-12 overall) will wrap up the season with a road game at Dean College on Friday, April 29 at 3:30 p.m.
