CASTLETON, Vt. -- The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-4 decision to Castleton University on Saturday afternoon at Dave Wolk Stadium.
Four Mariners scored a goal in the contest, with Jessica Krupnikoff and Kathryn Barillaro finishing with a goal and an assist each. Rachel Ricciuti and Fallon McGraw also found their way into the scoring column while Hannah Gomes made nine saves in goal.
Deena Jacunski and Kimberly McCarthy paced Castleton with four goals apiece.
Castleton outscored Mitchell 6-0 in the opening quarter and led 8-0 before Barillaro's unassisted effort put the Mariners on the scoreboard with 13:05 left in the half. The Spartans didn't allow another goal in the half and led 12-1 at the break.
Krupnikoff netted Mitchell's lone goal of the third quarter, and both Ricciuti and McGraw tallied in the fourth. McGraw's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
Mitchell (1-5 overall) will next host Maritime College on Tuesday, March 29 at 3 p.m.
