ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team opened the 2019 season with a 20-1 loss at Bard College on Friday afternoon.
Lindsey Fairbank netted the lone goal of the day for the Mariners, who were outshot 43-5. Goalie Gillian MacLellan finished with 14 saves in the contest.
Bard scored the first nine goals of the game before Fairbank put Mitchell on the scoreboard with a free position shot with 18:08 remaining in the first half. However, the home side potted five more goals before the halftime whistle to lead 14-1 at the break.
Melissa Rosenthal paced Bard with four goals and an assist.
Mitchell (0-1 overall) will next play at Albertus Magnus College on Monday, March 4 at 4 p.m.
