WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team fell by an 18-2 final at the University of Saint Joseph on Tuesday night at the USJ Lacrosse Field.
Makenzie Dinger lit it up on the offensive end for the Blue Jays, finishing with a game-high eight goals. USJ outshot Mitchell by a 30-10 margin and never trailed in the contest.
Abby Rasmussen and Kathryn Barillaro each scored for the Mariners, who dropped to 0-2 on the season. Gaby Estupinan made four saves against 24 shots on goal.
After going down 1-0 in the opening minute of the game, Mitchell pulled even behind an unassisted effort by Rasmussen at the 11:50 mark. The Blue Jays, however, owned the rest of the quarter and led 7-1 after one.
The Blue Jays extended the margin to 12-1 by halftime, with Dinger accounting for five goals before intermission. In the second half, Mitchell trailed 16-1 when Barillaro potted her first goal of the season.
