NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team dropped a 19-0 decision to Maritime College on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Alumni Field.
A total of 10 Maritime players scored goals on the day, led by four apiece for Krista Deleva and Catherine Pfundstein. Sara Wright also finished with a hat trick and Ciara Murphy added two scores on the day.
Pfundstein secured her hat trick just 5:30 minutes into the contest as the Privateers (2-2 overall) went ahead 5-0. The margin expanded to 7-0 following back-to-back tallies from Wright with 22:07 to go in the half. Maritime took a 12-0 advantage into the halftime intermission.
Deleva and Pfundstein facilitated the offense in the second half, finishing the day with a combined seven assists.
Mitchell goalie Gillian MacLellan made 13 saves against 32 shots. Esmeralda Hernandez stopped three shots in goal for the Privateers, who recorded the first-ever shutout in program history.
Mitchell (0-2 overall) will next host MCLA on Wednesday, March 28 at 4 p.m.
