
Women’s Lacrosse Drop Senior Day Tilt with Blazers
NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day on Friday afternoon, before dropping their final home game of the season, 18-5, against Elms College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Alumni Field.
Prior to the game, the Mariners honored their four senior student-athletes; Carly Potts (New London, Conn.), Angelia Rheaume (East Lyme, Conn.), Kyrsten Lucas (Manchester, MD), and Marissa Luna (Houston, TX).
Junior Lauren Cordero (Selden, N.Y.) had four goals to lead the Mariners, also adding five draw controls, three ground balls, and a pair of caused turnovers. Carly Potts scored one and assisted on two other goals, while sophomore Chloe Jennings (New London, Conn.) also found the back of the net.
After the two teams played to a 3-3 tie in the first quarter, the Blazers broke things open by outscoring Mitchell 7-1 in the second frame. From there, Elms took the third quarter, 6-1, before adding two more goals in the fourth.
Jackie Cronin finished with six goals and a pair of assists for the Blazers. Greta Frankwicz added five of her own, while Rachel Dort notched a hat trick. Katherine Ingram made eight saves in the win.
Junior Arrianna Stark played all 60 minutes in cage and turned away 11 shots.
The Mariners (1-11, 1-9 GNAC) conclude their season on Tuesday, April 22, with a conference game at the University of Saint Joseph at 6:00 pm. The Blazers (2-10, 2-8 GNAC) wrap up their regular season on Tuesday, April 22, at home against Rivier University.
