
Women’s Lacrosse Ends Season with Loss to Blue Jays
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team saw their season come to an end on Tuesday evening, falling to the University of Saint Joseph, 22-6, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South Division showdown at the USJ Athletics Complex.
Sophomore Chloe Jennings (New London, Conn.) scored five goals for the Mariners, bringing her season total to 30. Freshman Ronnie Keays (Salem, N.H.) chipped in her first collegiate goal in the loss.
The Blue Jays opened up a five-goal lead in the first five minutes of the contest before Jennings potted her first goal of the game. USJ added six more goals to pull ahead 11-1 by the end of the first half, and the home squad held a 12-3 edge at halftime.
The Mariners held a 16-14 advantage in draw controls, with junior Lauren Cordero (Selden, N.Y.) collecting a game-high seven of them. The Blue Jays outshot the Mariners (35-24), won the ground ball battle (20-13), and forced 22 Mitchell turnovers while committing just 15.
Anna LeGault fired home a game-high six goals in the win, while Reagan Buscetto finished with four goals and one assist. Erika Horne was the winning goalie, playing the opening 30 minutes and tuning away four shots.
Junior Arrianna Stark (Scotia-Glenville, N.Y.) made six saves in the loss.
The Mariners conclude their season with an overall record of 1-12, including a 1-10 mark in conference play. The Blue Jays wrap up their regular season with a 4-12 record (3-8 GNAC), and will await seeding in the upcoming GNAC Tournament.
