FOUR MITCHELL COLLEGE STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO WINTER/SPRING NECC ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE

ATTLEBORO, Mass. Four Mitchell College student-athletes have been named to the New England Collegiate Conference Academic All-Conference for the winter/spring 2009 semester, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. Three Mitchell softball players, Lindsey Donelin, Kelly Reynolds, and Liz Roy as well as one mens basketball player, Mike DePaolo, were honored.

NEW LONDON, Conn. Two Mitchell College student-athletes have been selected to attend the 2009 NCAA Student-Athlete Development Conference May 24-27 in Orlando, Fla. at the Walt Disney World Coronado Spring Resort. Mike DePaolo (Asbury, N.J.) of the mens basketball team and Kelly Reynolds (Waterford, Conn.), a softball player, were chosen to represent Mitchell College at the conference which will have participants from all three NCAA divisions.

Wheelock Outlasts Mitchell in Shootout, Advances to NECC Semifinals

Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Wheelock College mens basketball team survived a tremendous second half from Mitchell College to advance to the second round of the New England Collegiate Conference playoffs with a 105-91 win over the Mariners in front of a packed house at Pine Manor College Tuesday night. The Wildcats will travel to Chicopee Friday when the team takes on #1 seed Elms College at 6:00 pm, and the loss concludes the Mariners season.
Mitchell Men Earn #5 Seed in NECC Tournament

ATTLEBORO, Mass.Mitchell College has earned the #5 seed in the 2008-09 NECC (New England Collegiate Conference) tournament which starts on Tuesday, February 24th. Elms College has claimed the top seed for the championship, which begins with quarterfinal matchups on campus sites. The Blazers (24-1 overall) earned the top spot in the upcoming NECC tournament after posting a perfect 14-0 conference record. Elms is currently ranked 12th in the most recent D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll.
Wildcats Pull Out Win Over Mitchell, 74-68

Chestnut Hill, Mass. In only the second year of existence, the Wheelock mens basketball team not only earned a trip to the playoffs, but put together a .500 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) record with a hard-fought win over Mitchell College. Eric Murray (Bridgeport, Conn.) finished the game with 19 points and eight rebounds for the Mariners.
Mariners Fall to Becker in NECC Road Match-up, 83-69

Leicester, Mass.- Becker College defeated Mitchell College 83-69 in New England Collegiate Conference men's basketball action. In the first half, Becker and Mitchell exchanged the lead on six different occasions. After Mike DePaolo (Asbury, NJ) forced a turnover, Eric Murray (Bridgeport, Conn.) scored a layup, putting Mitchell ahead by six with just over twelve minutes remaining in the first half. The Mariners extended their lead to seven, before the Hawks went on a 6-0 run. The two teams went scoreless for the next two minutes, before Travis Suber (Springfield, Mass.) hit a jumper, putting Becker ahead by one. Becker had a four point lead, before Mitchell went on a 12-4 run to close the half.
Lynx Edge Mariners 69-67 in Overtime Thriller

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Nijel Robinson (Plainsboro, N.J.) scored 26 points and hit the game-winning bucket with four seconds remaining in overtime to lead the Lesley University mens basketball team to victory over Mitchell College 69-67. With the win, the Lynx improved to 5-18 (2-10 NECC) while Mitchell dropped to 8-15 (4-8 NECC).
Coast Guard Cruises to 76-50 Win Over Mitchell

NEW LONDON, CONN.(2/16/09)--Senior Craig Johnson (Medford, Ore.) had 19 of his season-high 31 points in the first half as Coast Guard won its fourth straight with a 76-50 win over host Mitchell in a non-conference game between the two New London schools. Junior Eric Murray (Bridgeport, Conn.) had 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds for Mitchell (8-14) which has lost four straight.

NEW LONDON, CONN. Eric Murrays 28 point, 12 rebound effort was not enough as Mitchell fell to Southern Vermont College, 80-70, on Senior Day at the Yarnall Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon. For the Mountaineers, Joe Karnik (Casteton, N.Y.) poured in 25 points and pulled down 14 boards in the win.

NEW LONDON, CONN. The Connecticut College Camels defeated the Mariners in a non-conference match-up on Tuesday evening, 79-60. Four players scored in double digits for Conn, including Billy Karis (Potsdam, N.Y.) who scored a team-high 18 points. Eric Murray (Bridgeport, Conn.) finished with a game-high 26 points in the loss for Mitchell.

Juan Galdon (Holyoke, Mass.) and Antoine Holder (Hartford, Conn.) led Elms with 16 points apiece. For the host Mariners, Matt Bindner (Milford, Conn.) and Jenel Russell (East Hampton, N.Y.) each netted 13 points.

CHICOPEE, MA The 13th-ranked Elms College mens basketball team saw 15 players figure in the scoring in an impressive 108-66 win over Mitchell College Thursday night in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) contest at the Maguire Center. Senior forward Malakie Berry (Enfield, CT) and junior guard Juan Galdon (Holyoke, MA) scored 10 points each to lead the Blazers.
Mitchells Murray Tabbed as NECC Player of the Week

NEW LONDON, CONN. Mitchell College junior forward Eric Murray (Bridgeport, Conn.) was a scoring force for the Mariners, leading his team to a 2-1 NECC weekly record. Murray closed the week notching a double-double helping Mitchell defeat Lesley 78-52, pouring out another 25 point game and pulling down 11 boards. Earlier in the week, he notched 16 points in a 92-82 win against Newbury, while shelling out 25 points in an 84-59 loss against Becker. For the week, Murray shot 44% (26-for-59) from the field, 31% (4-for-13) from behind the arc and 83% (10-for-12) from the free-throw line.
