Men's Soccer Falls at Coast Guard

NEW LONDON, Conn.- Coast Guard rallied for a 5-0 victory over
Mitchell College on Wednesday night in men's soccer action.
Coast Guard senior Spencer Ross scored a goal and assisted on
another while leading his team to a win in a non-conference game
between the two New London schools.
Jacob Larsen registered his first goal of the season on blast from
30 yards out in the 31st minute to break the scoreless tie. Ross
tallied his first goal of the season in the 40th minute on a header
off a rebound as the Bears led 2-0 at halftime.
Sophomore Anthony Walker took a pass from Nick Devine and buried it
in the net in the 57th minute to increase the Coast Guard lead to
3-0. The Bears used an own goal in the 70th minute before sophomore
Kevin Noll's first goal of the season, a header, off an assist from
Ross closed the scoring.
Coast Guard (3-2 overall) snapped a two-game losing streak.
Mitchell dropped to 1-3 overall on the season.
Sophomore Kevin Woodford had eight saves in goal for the Mariners,
who played a man down for the final 67 minutes. Senior Tim Olah
(one save) and sophomore Sean Newmeyer (2 saves) combined on the
shutout for the Bears.
Mitchell returns to the pitch on Tuesday, September 22 at Albertus
Magnus. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
