HENNIKER, N.H. -- Second-seeded New England College topped third-seeded Mitchell College by a 4-1 final on Wednesday night in the semifinals of the 2021 New England Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Championship at Don Melander Field.
The Pilgrims, who built a 4-0 lead over the first 54:02 of the contest, improved to 8-6-2 overall and move on to the title round. Mitchell ends the season with an overall record of 1-12-4.
Daniel Hotaling scored Mitchell's lone goal, his first of the season. Starting goalkeeper Joey Rosa finished with eight saves in 63 minutes of work, while Dylan Kinsella made one stop in the final 27 minutes.
Tucker Stenger scored the first of his two goals in the 26th minute to give NEC the early edge. Less than four minutes later, Logan Cassin added to the margin with his seventh marker of the season.
Mitchell trailed 2-0 at intermission, but NEC doubled its lead in the opening 10 minutes of the second half. Stenger completed the bracket in the 49th minute while Panagiotis Galatas tacked on a score in the 55th.
Hotaling closed out his collegiate career with his fourth career goal in the 56th minute.
