WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Mitchell College softball team suffered a pair of losses to the University of Saint Joseph on Wednesday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South Division action, dropping the opening game by a final of 14-2 in five innings, before getting shut out 2-0 in the second game the the USJ Softball Complex.

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Kenneth Miller Jr. (New London, Conn.) belted a go-ahead gram slam with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning on Wednesday afternoon, as the Mitchell College baseball team rallied from an eight run deficit to defeat Wesleyan University, 12-9, in non-conference action at Alumni Field.

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sophomore Michael Ficocelli (North Providence, R.I.) belted a two-run home run and senior Eddie Kaftan (Old Lyme, Conn.) tossed seven innings of one run ball, as the Mitchell College baseball team snapped Lasell University’s six-game winning streak, downing the Lasers, 5-1, on Tuesday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) showdown at Alumni Field.

Chas Terni Jr.
Sophomore Chas Terni Jr. (Montville, Conn.) turned in a huge week for the Mitchell baseball team, slashing .471/.500/1.059, with three home runs, 13 RBI, and four runs scored. Terni Jr. added a double, two walks, and three stolen bases, helping guide the Mariners to a 4-1 record, including a 3-1 mark in conference play.

Mitchell catcher Brooke Whitmarsh (Portsmouth, R.I.) continued her strong senior season this week, slashing .421/,455/.737 for the Mariners, while driving in six runs and scoring four times.
