Surette, Holland Earn NECC Honors
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – A pair of Mitchell College men's soccer players were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday.
Senior midfielder Taylor Surette was named NECC Player of the Week while freshman defender Khaliyl Holland was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week. The duo helped the Mariners to a pair of victories in NECC play last week.
Surette netted a pair of game-winning goals to lead the Mitchell offense. He factored into both goals in a 2-0 win in over Newbury College, scoring the winner in the first half and assisting on the insurance goal in the second. He then broke a scoreless tie in the 75th minute at Becker College that was the spark in a 2-0 victory.
Holland started and played all 180 minutes last week for a back line that produced a pair of shutouts. The Mariners allowed seven shots on goal against Newbury and only two at Becker and have not yielded a goal in league play in their last three contests.
Mitchell (9-7-1 overall, 4-1-0 NECC) will next play at Lesley University on Wednesday, October 29 at 8 p.m.
