Men's Soccer Falls 6-1 at Bridgewater State
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's
soccer team received goals from six different players as the host
Bears defeated Mitchell College, 6-1, Wednesday afternoon at
Swenson Field.
Along with the six different goal scorers, the Bears (2-0-0
overall) also had 13 players register either a goal or an assist
with no multi-point producers.
Junior forward Jose DePina opened the scoring with his team leading
fourth goal of the season in the 14th minute. After Mitchell senior
forward Christopher Rapuano
tied the game with a header off a cross in the 30th minute,
freshman forward Craig Shadduck notched his first collegiate goal
in the 38th minute to give BSU the lead for good. Freshman
midfielder Joshua Jackson capped off the first half scoring with
his first career goal with just over a minute remaining in the
opening stanza.
Sophomore forward Matt Palatino, senior defender Pat Kenneally and
junior forward Said Ekinci tallied second half goals for the Bears
who have found the back of the net 11 times over the first two
games.
Junior netminder DJ Siewierski picked up the win between the pipes
for the Bears. Junior Kevin Woodford
made nine saves in goal for the Mariners including a pair of stops
on a penalty kick and the ensuing rebound.
Mitchell returns home to host Lehman College on Saturday,
September 11 at 1 p.m.
