Wiley Collects National, Regional Honors
NEW LONDON, Conn. – On the heels of being named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season, Mitchell College senior Amina Wiley also picked up national and regional accolades on Monday night.
Wiley, who has led the Mariners to a 3-0 start, was one of five players named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. The popular web site, now in its 25th season, recognizes the top individual performances from across the country for the previous week. Wiley was selected for the second time in her career (2019) and is one of only two Mitchell players to ever receive the honor.
Wiley also landed one of five spots on the New England Women's Basketball Association Honor Roll. Each week during the regular season, the organization honors a player and rookie of the week from the region and selects a five-player honor roll. Wiley is the second Mariner to land on the honor roll and the first since 2016.
In three games this season Wiley has averaged 21.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game while shooting 61 percent from the floor. She's recorded double-doubles in all three games, highlighted by a 23-point, 17-rebound effort in the season opener against Wentworth.
Mitchell will next play Smith College in the opening round of the Bowdoin Tip-Off Tournament on Friday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m.
