
WBB Keeps Rolling at Becker
LEICESTER, Mass. - The Mitchell College women's basketball
team earned a 68-57 victory over Becker College on Thursday night
in New England Collegiate Conference action at Leicester
Gymnasium.
Mitchell improved to 5-8 overall and 5-2 in NECC play. The loss
dropped Becker to 3-11 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
Mitchell took a 35-32 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Senior Jennifer
Iglesias led the Mariners with 16 first half points while
sophomore Destiney
Harris grabbed five rebounds and made five steals.
The Hawks' top scorer in the half was Katelyn Cavanaugh, who
chipped in 10 points, while Courtney
Fiske added three treys for nine points.
Mitchell came out for the second half on fire, going on a 21-8
run over the first 10 minutes to take a 56-40 lead and put the
game away. Iglesias finished with 18 points and three rebounds
while junior Alix O'Neil pulled
down a team-high nine rebounds. The Mariners shot 37
percent for the game and forced 24 turnovers.
The Hawks had three players finish in double figures.
Cavanaugh notched a double-double with team highs
of 18 points and 11 rebounds. Heidi Miller poured in 11
points and added six boards while senior Shannon
Tibbetts finished with 14 points. Becker shot 29 percent from
the floor and went 6-for-20 from long range.
Mitchell will next host Wheelock College on Saturday, January 30 at
1 p.m.
