PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Mitchell College women's basketball team suffered a 101-45 defeat to Division I Brown University on Saturday afternoon in non-conference play at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
With 2:11 remaining in the second quarter, senior Amina Wiley (New Rochelle, N.Y.) grabbed her third rebound of the game for the Mariners, becoming the first player in program history to reach 1,000 career rebounds.
Wiley finished with seven rebounds total to go along with a team-high 20 points on 8-13 shooting. Senior Dede Stevenson (Hartford, Conn.) added 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists for Mitchell, who struggled to contain their Ivy League opponent.
Mackenzie Leahy paced the Bears with a game-best 21 points, while Ada Anamekwe (18 points, six rebounds), Grace Arnolie (17 points), and Maddie Mullin (14 points) joined her in double-figures. 12 different players scored for Brown, who improved to 7-4 overall.
The Mariners (3-5) will look to snap their three game losing skid on Saturday, December 17th, when they play at Albertus Magnus. The Bears play next at Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday, December 28th.
