HOLYOKE, Mass. -- The Mitchell College women's basketball team coasted to a 92-47 victory at Bay Path University on Thursday afternoon in a New England Collegiate Conference showdown at the HCC Bartley Center.
Four Mariners scored in double figures led by a career-high 18 points from Jessica Lohneiss, who shot 7-for-9 from the floor and added five rebounds and four assists. Jordan Lohneiss also tallied a career-high 12 points and was a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. Amina Wiley fell one rebound shy of a double-double and finished with 15 points while Le'Sandra Turner chipped in 11 points and three boards.
The Mariners shot a blistering 67 percent (8-for-12) from three-point range in the contest. All 12 Mitchell players who saw action found the scoring column, and the visitors held a 46-8 advantage in bench scoring.
Mitchell scored 17 of the game's first 21 points and took a double-digit lead just 4:24 into the contest. The Mariners led 29-15 after the first quarter but outscored Bay Path by 22 in the second to take a 56-20 advantage into the locker room at intermission.
The margin continued to balloon in the second half, peaking at 47 with 4:36 to go in the third quarter. The Lohneiss sisters combined for 20 points over the final 20 minutes as the Mariners coasted to their seventh win in the last eight games.
Mitchell (11-8 overall, 7-2 NECC) will next host Lesley University on Tuesday, February 11 at 6 p.m.
