
Women’s Basketball Falters at Dean
WFRANKLIN, Mass. – The Mitchell College women's basketball team fell to Dean College by a final of, 69-57, on Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Pieri Gymnasium.
Freshman Jade Hypolite (Houston, TX) and sophomore Inonda Peterson (Houston, TX) scored 13 points apiece to lead the Mariners. Hypolite added seven rebounds, five assists and three steals, while Peterson pulled down eight boards off the bench. Freshman N'Tai Teague (Houston, TX) chipped in 11 points and six rebounds in the loss.
After the Mariners took the opening quarter, 18-15, the host Bulldogs responded in resounding fashion, outscoring Mitchell by 15 points in the second frame. Mitchell trailed 42-30 at half and were unable to recover despite shooting 39.3% from the floor, their highest mark of the season.
Dean's Azaria Landry led all scorers with 22 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Alexandria Paquet knocked down five three-pointers and finished with 21 points, five rebounds, and three assists for Dean, while Kendrah Doane scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win.
The Mariners (2-15, 0-11 GNAC) return home on Saturday, February 15, for a conference matchup against Saint Joseph's College (ME) at 1:00 pm. The game will also serve as Mitchell's senior day. Fresh off their first conference win of the season, the Bulldogs (6-16, 1-9 GNAC) travel to play Rivier University in a GNAC game on Saturday, February 15.
