Falcons Soar Past Women’s Basketball
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's basketball team dropped to 0-3 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play after falling to Albertus Magnus College 95-63 on Wednesday evening at The Nest.
Freshman forward N'Tai Teague (Houston, TX) posted her second consecutive double-double, finishing with a collegiate career-high 20 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman Jordyn Streitmatter (Brewster, Mass.) added 16 points, seven boards, and three steals, while sophomore Inonda Peterson (Houston TX) netted 10 points and pulled down five rebounds off the bench.
The Falcons outscored the Mariners by 13 points in the first quarter, and despite Mitchell opening the second frame on a 10-0 run, Albertus was able to right the ship and carry a 46-28 advantage into the locker room.
Caitlyn Scott posted 28 points and 15 rebounds for Albertus, both game high figures, while Diamond White chipped in 19 points, and Jakara Murray-Leach recorded 16 points and nine rebounds for the Falcons, who shot 44.3% from the floor and 44.1% from beyond the arc. Mitchell shot just 31.6% overall, 25.9% from downtown, and were outrebounded by the Falcons, 57-44.
The Mariners (2-7, 0-3 GNAC) return home for their next game on Saturday, January 18, when they host Regis College in a GNAC matchup slated for a 1:00 pm tip-off. The Falcons (9-6, 4-0 GNAC) will host Saint Joseph's College (ME) on Saturday, January 18, as they look to remain unbeaten in conference play.
