WBB Sweeps NECC Weekly Honors
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Two members of the Mitchell College women's basketball team were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday.
Senior forward Amina Wiley was named NECC Player of the Week while sophomore forward Yasmine Santos was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week. Wiley earned the honor for the fifth time this season (Nov. 8, 15, Jan. 24, Feb. 7) while Santos was recognized for the first time.
Wiley finished with a career-high 31 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds against New England College last week. She also tacked on two steals and an assist while making 12 field goals and shooting 7-for-10 at the free throw line.
Santos grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds and added 11 points to record her first career double-double against NEC. She also finished with two assists and a steal in the contest.
Wiley has played in 18 games this season and leads the NECC in scoring (18.6 ppg), rebounding (10.8 rpg), field goals (145), field goal percentage (.573) and double-doubles (11). Santos has started and played in 18 games and is averaging 5.7 points and 4.9 boards per contest.
Mitchell (8-12 overall, 0-3 NECC) will next play at Lesley University on Monday, February 14 at 7 p.m.
