Sinani Earns ECAC Weekly Honors
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Mitchell College sophomore Ramazan Sinani was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Defensive Player of the Week for the sport of men's soccer, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Sinani, Mitchell's starting goalkeeper, made a career-high 14 saves in an overtime loss against Eastern Connecticut State University last week. ECSU entered the match ranked fifth in New England, but Sinani kept the Mariners in contention by holding the Warriors scoreless through regulation.
Sinani was also named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week on Monday. He has started all three games for the Mariners this season and ranks second in the NECC in both goals-against averages (0.97) and save percentage (.914). His first career victory came in shutout fashion in Mitchell's season opener against Anna Maria College.
Mitchell (1-2-0 overall) will next play at Western Connecticut State University on Wednesday, September 19 at 7 p.m.
