
Women's Soccer Cruises in NECC Opener
BENNINGTON, Vt. - The Mitchell College women's soccer team won its
NECC opener on Saturday at Southern Vermont College by a final
score of 7-0.
Mitchell (3-4-0 overall, 1-0-0 NECC) netted more goals against the
Mountaineers than in its previous four games combined. The Mariners
held a commanding 49-2 edge in shots and put 26 shots on goal.
Junior Shannen Pelletier led the attack with two goals, including
the first of her collegiate career.
Five other players also found the back of the net for the Mariners,
including freshman Caley McClendon, sophomore Kaitlyn McGinn, and
juniors Angie Smith, Rosana Andrews and Nikki Hoxie. Freshman
goalkeeper Kaylee Woodford faced only two shots in the game and
finished with a pair of saves while recording the shutout.
Mitchell will next play at UMass-Dartmouth on Wednesday, September
29 at 7 p.m.
