
WOMEN'S SOCCER WINS 1-0 OVER BECKER COLLEGE
NEW LONDON, CT--Mitchell College women's soccer battled for their fifth win of the season today over the Hawks of Becker College. Becker, a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) member, leaves New London, CT with a 2-5-0 record. Today's win moves Mitchell to 5-3-0.
After a scoreless first half, the Peqouts scored the lone goal of the game at 74:20 off a tap in from Kelly McGoldrick (So., Chester, NY) Teammate Mallory Silva (Fr., Waterford, CT) set McGoldrick up for the shot with her pass out of a mass of bodies in front of the goal. In a new position for the Pequots, Anna MacKenzie (Fr., Ridge, NY), set the tone with her defensive coverage backfield.
The Hawks out-shot the Pequots 16 -8 on the day. Becker's offensive threat was led by the aggressive efforts of Ashley DeFigueiredo (So., Dartmouth, MA) and teammate Kim Pino (Fr., North Attleboro, MA). Goalie Julie Arroyo (Sr./Sharon, MA) wrapped up 2 saves for Becker in the box. Mitchell keeper Molly Gill (Fr., Deep River, CT) finished the day with 10 saves.
Mitchell will return to the road on Saturday for a game with fellow Association of Division III Independents (ADIII) member Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT. The Pequots will return home on Sunday to host Wheelock College. Game time is 1:00 PM. Becker College will host NAC rival Husson College on Saturday for 3:00 PM game.
