Landry Earns GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week Honors
WINTHROP, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Gemma Landry (Lewiston, ME) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week for the sport of women's soccer, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
It marks the first time this season Landry has been recognized as Goalie of the Week, and the first time a member of the Mitchell women's soccer team has picked up a weekly conference award this fall.
The goalkeeper was dominant in the net, logging 180 minutes and notching back to back shutouts, as the Mariners played to a perfect 2-0 record on the week with conference victories over Anna Maria College and Norwich University. To begin the week, Landry made three saves in a 2-0 win over the AMCATS, before stopping six more shots and recording another clean sheet during a rainy match Saturday against the Cadets. With three games to go on the season, Landry leads the GNAC with 113 saves.
The Mariners (4-9-1, 2-9-1 GNAC) return to action with another GNAC showdown at home on Wednesday, October 18th, against Saint Joseph's College (ME).
