Men's Soccer Duo Earn NECC Weekly Honors
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Two Mitchell College men's soccer players were recognized by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday morning.
Senior goalkeeper Joey Rosa was named NECC Player of the Week while freshman midfielder Dylan Lucey was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week. The duo helped the Mariners to a 1-1 draw against New England College last week.
Rosa earned the award for the second time this season (Sept. 20). He recorded eight saves against the Pilgrims, including four in the overtime periods to preserve the tie. In the process, he also lowered his goals-against average to a team-best 0.96 on the season.
Lucey grabbed weekly conference honors for the first time this season. The rookie netted the equalizing goal in the first half against NEC, which was also his first collegiate tally. Over 12 games this season he's made 11 starts and ranks second on the team in scoring with one goal and one assist.
Mitchell (0-9-3 overall, 0-1-2 NECC) will next host Connecticut College on Wednesday, October 20 at 3 p.m.
