NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's soccer team suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Lasell University on Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match at Alumi Field.
Michelina D'Agostino and Camdyn LaMarre scored two goals apiece for the Lasers, who built a 3-0 lead at halftime and tacked on two more goals in the second half. Julia Vaillancourt added a goal, while Destani Alua-Rioux handed out assists on the first two goals of the game. Alex Delaney also tallied an assist in the win for Lasell, who has now won three games in a row.
Freshman Ava Iwasko (Sterling Hieghts, Mich.) was responsible for the lone Mitchell shot on the afternoon, as the Mariners were outshot 34-1. Senior Hannah Penn (New Fairfield, Conn.) got the start in goal for the Mariners and turned away six shots. Freshman Ronnie Keays (Salem, N.H.) came on to play the second half and made eight saves.
Elizabeth DaSilva started in goal for Lasell and picked up the win, making one save over just under 30 minutes of work.
The Mariners (0-13-1, 0-13-1 GNAC) will close out their season with a game on Wednesday, October 30, at Simmons University with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 pm. The Lasers (9-4-3, 8-3-3 GNAC) wrap up their regular season at Rivier University on Tuesday, October 29.
